Re: Cold Start Engine 'rattle' (1.0)
Thanks davrob that’s blown that theory out of the water same as mine Ulsan Korea , back to the drawing board. Thanks for the advice on the Mokka think I might give it a miss. I think most manufacturers have problems in one way or another just depends on how much they spend on it to resolve it or jus...

Re: Cold Start Engine 'rattle' (1.0)
Thanks davrob after seeing what zoetaylor and bart have written i’m not 100% sure what to do with mine. It’s obvious the repair that Hyundai are doing isn’t working. Do I want my engine stripped down and get it back still same ? Do I just think it’s got 5 years warranty ? By what zoetaylor says Hyun...

Re: Cold Start Engine 'rattle' (1.0)
davrob thanks for your reply I might of phrased it wrong when I said “there is no spring of significance “ I was referring to the mighty spring you referred too or am I interpreting it wrong . A light spring yes but I can’t see that a heavy spring is inside the tensioner because surely that would de...

Re: Cold Start Engine 'rattle' (1.0)
An educated guess is that the engine is the same as the i10 apart from like you said the turbo. I think the i20 and the i30 have the same engine as the Kona. If like we say the timing tensioner is hydraulic it’ll work by oil pressure so I would say there is no spring of significance. Like Bart said ...

Re: Cold Start Engine 'rattle' (1.0)
hi This repair has obviously not worked if there are no modifications been made by Hyundai on the related parts then i can’t see it working . I think you’re right about the tensioner needing a non-return valve to keep the chain under tension. Is there one and it’s fault and that’s the problem ? Due ...

Re: Cold Start Engine 'rattle' (1.0)
Hi This problem definitely seems to be common. I’m not sure when the noise started on mine it could of been from new. A couple of weeks ago I started the engine with the driver door open which i’ve never done before and heard it, now i hear it more or less every time I start up . To me it sounds as ...

https://www.hkona.com/hyundai_kona_os_2018_2019_service_manual-554.html Hi, just starting to experience the same problem with my Kona with 5000 miles on the clock, haven’t been into the dealer yet but i’ve found the trouble shooting service manual at the above address which says engine noise for a f...
