My Kona SE dose the same (key ignition). I think it is just one of those Hyundai quirks.

On Good Friday we under took a two hour drive and for the first time I broke the 50mpg barrier. The screen said 51.9 average mpg.

We've been to Melbourne (and Hull but not Manchester). You have some lovely roads to travel along. We hired a car and drove to Sydney. Loved every mile. Enjoy your Kona.

I have not seen a warning light (never been that low) but the display screen shows the range you have. We fill up when the fuel gauge shows less than a quarter. To be fair, we have only filled up four or five times so far.
