HI New Kona Driver here!
only had it over the weekend and not driven it much. I have to GT petrol auto. BTW

I was caught up in a jam yesterday and noticed that when the auto stop has kicked in even the slightest lowering of pressure on the brake pedal will start the engine again!
I could not keep the engine stopped without real pressure on the brake..

I rang the dealer and he aid this is perfectly normal and that most people like it this way???

Anyway I started to wade through the manual this morning and It looks like He told me a load of BS.
In the Dual clutch version it states that when the brake pedal is released the engine will be in auto stop state and if you touch the accelerator the engine will start again..

Just wanted to ask if it works this way for everyone else.

I will be ringing the Dealer soon!

thanks for any input

Mike

Not on the Ioniq EV!
Once you have come to a complete stop, Auto-stop will hold the car without further pressure on the brake pedal.
The brake lights remain illuminated.
It will automatically release once you press on the accelerator.

If you are going to be stationary for a while, engaging the parking brake will switch off the brake lights.

I would have expected the Kona EV to behave in the same way.

Ah - just had a second thought.
I made an assumption that the OP had a Kona EV, and was referring to the Auto-Hold feature.
However, if the OP is using ICE, then he may indeed be referring to the Start-Stop feature, which the EV variant (and my Ioniq) does not have.
In which case my response was total BOB.
My apologies folks.

Hi and thanks
sorry i didn't see your replies as I wasn't sent emails to say I had a reply..

My Kona is not the EV, wish it was !

Its the Petrol premier GT with the dual clutch auto box.
I know my old tiguan used to be the same as this is but far less sensitive so you could at least ease off a bit on the brake pedal. At first I thought it would need a bit of adjustment maybe, until I read the manual which clearly states that you have to touch the throttle to restart the engine.
Maybe the Manual is wrong ?
Neil you say thats how it works for you. Which model do you have, is it the dual clutch box?

thanks again
