Kona Electric recall U.K.🇬🇧
Just receive a letter today from Hyundai U.K. recalling my Kona Electric due to a fire risk. Have been advise to park in the open with a good space left around it. Seems there’s been a few batteries catch fire, but in the scheme of things not that many compared to the number sold, so not too worried. It’s interesting though, I’ve read on line that Hyundai are moving away from LG Chem batteries to the Korean batteries use by Kia in their Nero, who haven’t had any problems.
Received the letter on Tuesday.
Must say I was a bit perturbed by the advice to leave it outside away from structures.
I always park it in the garage.
Phoned my dealer and it was booked in for Wednesday morning - pretty good response I thought.
Dropped it off accordingly and they told me to return after an hour.
On return they said the download and update was taking longer - probably needs at least 2 hours.
They texted later, I picked it up, and all appears well.
Just have to wait and see I suppose.

Got my letter too!
Was told I couldn’t wait as it would take too long. Booked in for 30th November.
Hopefully nothing happens in the interim.
Tried calling the national helpline and was in a queue for over 15 minutes so abandoned the call. Left an email and no reply and still not replied yet.
Supplying dealer very quick off the bark after using their webchat service.

Had my Sept 2020 registered Kona recall carried out yesterday. It took about 2 1/2 hours but it could have been shorter since I had my phone's Bluetooth switched on which apparently interrupted the downloads until I switched it off. They said there were 5 downloads to carry out. I didn't ask what they were for. Just happy to get my car back with no changes to the car's driving settings.
