Hi All.

Trying to find out if anyone with a recent Electric Kona can get their Bluelink app to reliably show the remaining range in miles. I would be grateful for responses whether you are getting the range shown in miles or kilometres, as this should help me find a way to get mine to work properly and reliably show the range in miles. Thanks in advance.

Soon after I got my new Electric Kona in April 2024 I set up the Bluelink app and told it that I wanted to see distance shown in miles and not kilometres. I have to admit that there have been occasions since then when it has mysteriously shown ranges in miles (normally just after a charge) but for most of the time it still, infuriatingly, shows the range in kilometres.

Initial contacts with Bluelink support told me that it was a known fault that was going to be fixed "soon", but when after many months of nothing changing I asked when it was going to be fixed, I was told that it was fine and maybe I should get my software updated. Well I am on the latest version of the Bluelink app and last week my garage confirmed that the car software is all up to date, but my rage, on Bluelink, is still shown in kilometres. I accept that this is not a "critical" fault but it is annoying and appears to show poor support for UK customers. However before I go back to Hyundai/Bluelink I would value the comments of other owners as I accept that there may be something odd that I have done that has caused this anomaly. If that is the case I would like to know. If not, then maybe Hyundai will be more likely take action if they know that several owners are suffering from the same problem.

I await comments with interest.

Hi Mike. It doesn't help you but I get the same problem. Mostly it starts off showing the range in Kms and then sometimes it switches to the miles as set in "App settings".
So far I have not worked out what causes it to switch to miles. Maybe it's after the car is switched on.

I spoke to Hyundai Bluelink support about this very issue a couple of weeks ago. It should have been resolved in January's software update (although my car hasn't prompted me to update yet so can't verify this).

Thanks both, for your replies.

Beta_Tester, did they say which software? As the problem seems to be with the Bluelink app, I assume it is that, that needs fixing. Neither my infotainment software nor the Bluelink app seem to have been updated for some time.

I will wait in hope....

Downloaded the latest Bluelink update released today on iOS and android. Tried both platforms and nope, still KM.

When I’m in my car I get miles, if I check later I get KM. This is true on my android and iPhone app.

Hi, new Kona EV owner since December 2024. Previously owned a Kia Niro EV 4 for 2 years and to be honest really regret letting that go.
Have to say that the miles / km issue is one of many I have with the car.
Every setting I can find in the car and on the app is set to miles but the app insists on showing KM. (even after updating to latest version today)
The only time it changes to miles is immediately after charging but if you refresh the app it reverts to km and stays there until the next charge.
Apparently the software for Bluelink is developed by a German company and is used by other car makers and their cars exhibit the same problem.
One of my other problems with the software is that it doesn't remember any settings when you turn it off, maybe the two are connected.
