New to both EVs and therefore charging so help with something that is probably straightforward much appreciated!

Just got a 24 plate Kona Electric N Line 64kwh and today had installed a charger at home (Ohme Home Pro).

When charging...rate of charge is 3.7kW which would suggest (according to the guy who installed it) that it's only pulling about 16A. This gives a pretty long charge time obviously when it could be charging at 32A (as per Ohme Pro spec) and a rate of 7.4kW.

The car tells me it's AC charging at 100%...anyone got an idea of where I'm going wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Hi NewKonaOwner

Welcome to the confusing world of electric cars....

First I should say that based on your post I am not sure what is happening. I am particularly intruiged as to exactly where, and when, you are seeing the car telling you that you are charging at 100%. However, I will try giving you a little background and hope that it helps.

I have a fully electric Kona Ultimate that I got in April this year and use an Ohme Home Pro charger. So it appears that our situations should be similar.

I normally choose to charge my car to just 80% of capacity. I only go above this if I have to make a long journey and even then try to only add the final top up just before departure. I normally choose to charge at night time, when electricity rates are lowest. This allows the car plenty of time to charge and so I can normally charge at just 60% of the maximim charge rate my setup will allow. This is because I have been advised that a slow charge is better for the battery. I attach a screenshot from my Bluelink app which should show you my settings in a way that you can compare them with what is shown on your Bluelink app.

My Ohme app tells me that when charging at my normal 60% the power it is has delivered is 4.2 kWh per hour. No idea why yours seems to be showing a lower figure.

I hope that helps you a bit. Please feel free to come back if you have any further questions.
